Well… that wasn’t so bad, was it?

Actually, I think I might have got off lucky with my first Camp; Marham is quite a big, busy place, so there was a packed programme for the kids. And the accommodation wasn’t bad. And the food was fan-flipping-tastic. Mind you, I was sequestered in the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess.

And the best bit (for me) was that my seven nights accommodation and three meals a day cost me… £5! That’s because I’m a civilian, and wasn’t being paid for the week (unlike the other seven, who were all officers).

I did do the decent thing, and climbed into the pilot seat of a Tornado GR4A and got my picture taken…

Nobody got broken (though I got slightly drowned on the NightEx – thanks, ACLO) and even my day and night as Duty Officer passed off peacefully. Not that I got much sleep, as I was prowling around the lobby area of the barrack block until midnight, then had to get up at 5.30am to kick people out of bed so that everyone was ready for the trip out to go flying at 7.15am.

But I’ve had worse weeks away!
