Monday 4th

Last week I ordered a new 1Tb drive, which I need because doing all of these photo rescans has created some really large files and my 500Gb external drive is now full. The metallic red one should have arrived on the 1st, then the second but still hasn’t shown up. So I ordered a blue one from Amazon on Friday, for delivery today… and it arrived yesterday.

The red one, meanwhile… I sent a chasing email, was told it was out of stock and offered a refund, which I accepted, only to be told they’d had a cancellation and it was now on its way and arriving tomorrow. So now I’ll have two, different colours, and will need to decode which one I want to use.

Choices, choices.

Saturday 9th

Depending on how you count it, I’m now double jabbed or triple jabbed as I got my flu and Covid booster this lunchtime. My left arm feels like it’s going to fall off. Fortunately I do everything with my right hand…

Thursday 14

Pam!

Train to Liverpool and back: around 200 minutes on the train there and back. Time in Liverpool: just under three hours (170 minutes). Time with Pam: around 140 minutes, as she was late getting in to Central (she was staying with her parents for the week)

Totally worth the walk down to Albert Dock, the chat, the lunch (she paid) and the general not being in my flat-ness. Especially as I’d suggested a trip to the south coast where she lives, but she suggested Liverpool as she was up for work for a few days.

You would not believe the number of apparent friends I have who don’t come back with an alternative date or venue when I suggest meeting up. There comes a point where you’re doing all of the work, which makes it feel like work, and who wants to do that all of the time?

Tuesday 19th

Looking out of the window I wonder who has been leaving bagels on the patch of green outside Whitehall Quay. Then I realise that there are brown and white patches all over the grass.

Then I realise that they are mushrooms. Or toadstools. The important thing is that they are very noticeable from seven floors up, so they must be huge.

Then I noticed a few smaller ones growing in one of the pots I have on my balcony. Must be the season for it but I’ve never seen them before on the grass or in the pot. Interesting.

Tuesday 26th

Out for unexpected drinks with my former CIPR Y&L Committee-ites. I got a WhatsApp on Sunday evening, and here I am, celebrating with those who have something to celebrate and just generally trying to hear the banter in a crowded pub. Also, I haven’t drink this much in ages; I started off on halves of Rekorderlig then switched to Mount Gay (and coke) once I spotted the bottle.

Also, it’s a warm (for October), dry evening, which is just as well as my right trainer has a huge hole in the sole. It’s been there or there about for the last year or so but I had to step out last week during the wet weather and finally realised just how bad it had become. Given the forecast for the start of November I think a quick trip to Amazon or (preferably, since I’ll get Nectar points) eBay might be due.

Sunday 30th

No sleep for the wicked. The wicked being everyone in earshot of flat 20 who are having a party. A loud party. With loud music. So loud I can hear it in my spare bedroom.

I didn’t gain an extra hour when the clocks went back, I lost a couple. But given the mess outside their door, and the smashed pumpkins and ‘2’ balloon tied to a tree outside, perhaps now building management will do something?

What do you think?
